✅ RBI Notification Alert | Reserve Bank – Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, 2021 (RB-IOS, 2021)

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), exercising its powers under Section 35A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, has issued a notification in partial modification of its earlier circular (CEPD.PRD.No.S544/13.01.001/2022-23 dated August 5, 2022).
RBI has announced that State Co-operative Banks and Central Co-operative Banks, as defined under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, will now be treated as ‘Regulated Entities’ under the Reserve Bank – Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, 2021 (RB-IOS, 2021).
Accordingly, the Scheme shall be applicable to these banks, except to the extent specifically excluded under its provisions.
📅 Effective Date: November 1, 2025
With this inclusion, the RB-IOS, 2021 will now cover a broader range of regulated entities, further strengthening the grievance redressal mechanism for banking customers.
